I met a guy which is a part of co-founder of my friends college at the night. We had suddenly go into topics talking with Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh and any others vacation Asia places, those things are refreshing us about the historical war places to be visit. And we just started talk about military movies. I like army issue indeed. When the earlier kid time, I still remember the filled up question about "请写出你三个以后的志愿"? 1)军人 2)警察 3) 律师. However, it seems I not being any of that at all.

The Thin Red Line is a 1998 war film which tells a fictional story of United States forces during the Battle of Guadalcanal in World War II with the focus on the men in C Company, most notably Private Witt (Jim Caviezel) and his conflicted feelings about fighting in the war, Colonel Tall (Nick Nolte) and his desire to win the battle at any cost in order to get a promotion, and Private Bell (Ben Chaplin) and the dissolution of his marriage back home while he fights in the war.

Saving Private Ryan is a 1998 American war film set during the invasion of Normandy in World War II. It was directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Robert Rodat. The film is notable for the intensity of its opening 24 minutes, which depict the Omaha beachhead assault of June 6, 1944. Afterward, it follows Tom Hanks as Captain John H. Miller and several men (Tom Sizemore, Edward Burns, Barry Pepper, Vin Diesel, Giovanni Ribisi, Adam Goldberg and Jeremy Davies) as they search for a paratrooper (Matt Damon).

Marooned in Iraq is a 2002 Iranian (Kurdish/Persian) film directed by Bahman Ghobadi and produced in Iran. Mirza, a famous Kurdish musician, hears that his ex-wife Hanare is in trouble. He, accompanied by his two sons, embarks on an adventurous journey across the Iran-Iraq border to find her. Do they finally find her?

In early 1971, the Academy Awards saluted Patton. Capturing eight Oscars- including best picture, best director, best actor, best screenplay, best editing, and best production design - the movie won every major battle of the evening. Such acclaim was richly deserved, for Patton remains to this day one of Hollywood's most compelling biographical war pictures.

Band of Brothers is a 2001 ten-part television World War II miniseries based on the book of the same title written by historian and biographer Stephen Ambrose. It was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks after their successful collaboration on the Academy Award-winning World War II film Saving Private Ryan (1998). The episodes first aired in 2001 on HBO and is still run frequently on various TV networks around the world.

Windtalkers is a 2002 action war film directed by John Woo, director of Face/Off. Nicolas Cage and Christian Slater star as two US Marine sergeants assigned to protect Navajo code talkers in Saipan during World War II.

The Second Battle of El Alamein marked a major turning point in the Western Desert Campaign of World War II. The battle lasted from 23 October to 5 November 1942. The First Battle of El Alamein had stalled the Axis advance. Thereafter, Lieutenant-General Bernard Montgomery took command of the British Eighth Army from General Claude Auchinleck in August 1942.

Jarhead is a 2005 film based on U.S. Marine Anthony Swofford's 2003 Gulf War memoir of the same name, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Swofford. The title comes from the slang term used to refer to Marines (sometimes by Marines themselves). The film was directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes, most famous for his 1999 film American Beauty.

A Battle of Wits, 墨攻 is a 2006 Hong Kong historical action drama film, based upon a Japanese historical novel of the same name, which was in turn inspired by Warring States history in China. A manga series was written by Hideki Mori, also based on the novel. Directed by Jacob Cheung, the film stars Andy Lau, Ahn Sung-ki, Wang Zhiwen, Fan Bingbing, Nicky Wu, and newcomer Choi Siwon.

Jakob the Liar is a 1999 drama film directed by Peter Kassovitz and starring Robin Williams, Alan Arkin, Liev Schreiber, Hannah Taylor-Gordon, and Bob Balaban.
The movie is set in 1944 in a ghetto in Poland, in the times of the Holocaust. The movie is based on the book by Jurek Becker about World War II Jewish Ghetto life. It's also a remake of the German DEFA film Jakob der Lügner from 1975.

Iraq in Fragments is a documentary feature directed by James Longley. Longley shot the film in Digital Video on a Panasonic DVX100 miniDV camcorder. The film premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. The film is also a part of the Iraq Media Action Project film collection. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

The Hurt Locker is a 2009 American war thriller directed by Kathryn Bigelow. Shot on location in Jordan, the film is based on recently declassified information about a U.S. Army Explosiv Ordnance Disposal (EOD) (bomb squad) team in present day Iraq. The Hurt Locker is written by Mark Boal, a freelance writer who was embedded with a bomb squad.

Flags of Our Fathers is a 2006 American war film directed, co-produced and scored by Clint Eastwood and written by William Broyles, Jr. and Paul Haggis. It is based on the book of the same name written by James Bradley and Ron Powers about the Battle of Iwo Jima the six men who were involved in raising the flag on Iwo Jima, and the after effects of that event on their lives

Enemy at the Gates is a 2001 war film directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud, starring Jude Law, Joseph Fiennes and Ed Harris set during the Battle of Stalingrad in World War II.

Brothers At War is a 2009 documentary film directed/produced by Jake Rademacher and produced by Norman S. Powell. The film follows several soldiers in the Iraq War. The film's executive producers are actor, director, and Presidential Citizens Medal holder Gary Sinise and Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service holder David Scantling. Brothers at War won the Best Documentary Feature Award at the 2008 GI Film Festival. The film features an original score by Lee Holdridge and an original song--"Brothers in Arms"--by John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting.

Courage Under Fire is a 1996 film directed by Edward Zwick, and starring Denzel Washington, Meg Ryan, Lou Diamond Phillips and Matt Damon. It is one of the first films to depict the 1991 Gulf War. The film uses the same cinematic concept as the 1950 Japanese film Rashōmon, wherein the truth of an event becomes difficult to verify due to the conflicting accounts of different witnesses. The major difference here is that in Rashomon, the characters believe the stories they tell. In Courage Under Fire, several of the characters deliberately lie to protect themselves.

Black Hawk Down is a 2001 American war film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Ridley Scott and based on the eponymous book by Mark Bowden that depicts the Battle of Mogadishu, a raid integral to the United States effort to capture Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid.

Behind Enemy Lines is a 2001 thriller war film directed by John Moore and starring Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson. Its fictional plot is centered on the story of uncovering a massacre in the Bosnian War of 1992-1995 by an American naval aviator.

Battle for Haditha is a 2007 drama film directed by British director Nick Broomfield based on the Haditha killings incident. Dramatising real events using a documentary style, Battle for Haditha is Broomfield's follow up to Ghosts. The film was aired on Channel 4 in the UK on March 17, 2008.

No Man's Land, Bosnian is a 2001 Academy Award-winning tragicomedy war drama that is set in the midst of the Bosnian war. The film is a parable with a tone of ironic black comedy. The film marked the debut of writer and director Danis Tanović. The film is a co-production between companies in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia, Italy, France, Belgium and the UK.

Hotel Rwanda is a 2004 historical drama film about the hotelier Paul Rusesabagina (played by Don Cheadle) during the Rwandan Genocide of 1994. The film, which has been called an African Schindler's List, documents Rusesabagina's acts to save the lives of his family and more than a thousand other refugees, by granting them shelter in the besieged Hôtel des Mille Collines, Directed by Irish filmmaker Terry George, the film was co-produced by US, British, Italian, and South African companies, with filming done on location in Johannesburg, South Africa and Kigali, Rwanda.

The Hunt for Red October is a novel by Tom Clancy. The story follows the intertwined adventures of Soviet submarine captain Marko Aleksandrovich Ramius and CIA analyst Jack (John) Patrick Ryan. The novel was originally published by the U.S. Naval Institute Press—the first fictional work they ever published and still their most successful.

We Were Soldiers is a 2002 American war film that dramatized the Battle of Ia Drang in November 1965, the first major engagement of United States military forces in the Vietnam War. The film was directed by Randall Wallace and stars Mel Gibson. It is based on the book We Were Soldiers Once… And Young by Lieutenant General (Ret.) Hal Moore and reporter Joseph L. Galloway, both of whom were at the battle.
